Amazing History
of the Bible in Wales

Visitors stepped into the rich tapestry of Welsh history at the Welsh Bible Exhibition at Carmarthen Library in Sept 2025 where the Welsh Bible Exhibition was held.
This unique private collection featured rare first editions of Welsh Bibles, including the seminal 1588 translation by Bishop William Morgan. Through informative panels and historical artefacts, the exhibition narrated the profound impact of the Welsh Bible on the nation's language, culture, and religious life.
Guests learned about pivotal figures like Mary Jones, whose determination to obtain a Bible inspired the founding of the British and Foreign Bible Society. They explored how the translation of the Scriptures into Welsh not only preserved the language but also fostered a surge in literacy and spiritual awakening across Wales.
The exhibition was free and open to all ages, offering a captivating experience for anyone interested in the intertwined history of faith and Welsh heritage. It invited all to rediscover the enduring significance of the Bible in shaping the identity of a nation.
